Welcome to my blog!
Read on for all my hair woes...
January 24th 2010 - I ran out of banana shampoo and conditioner (finally!) the other day and used my new bedhead brunette goddess for the first time last night. I have to say, first impressions are actually quite good. It certainly seems to be better than the dumb blonde products I used last time (maybe that's because I am a brunette... doh!). It's too early to draw any real inclusions but for now my hair is smelling great, is very soft, and seems to be easier to straighten. I'll keep you updated!
January 13th 2010 - Well, I did say that I was going to be on the hunt for more new products and I have found some!! Everybody... I am going back to the bedhead! Don't despair though, it is a different type of shampoo and conditioner this time so it might have better results. I know I was really disappointed last time, but I think I have to give this brand another chance because their products just look so damn pretty... and the smell... Mmmmm. This time I have plumped for brunette goddess and it smells like a chocolatey fudge delight. The consistency is nice and thick and it is a brown-ish colour with a bit of a gold tinge. I'm going to see it through with the banana shampoo and conditioner until it runs out, then I will move onto this. Normally I would just go straight onto a new shampoo... but I have lots of half empty bottles accumlating around the bath and it's not a great look!

January 6th 2010 - Happy New Year everyone!! May this year be the year that all my hair woes are solved (and yours too of course). I am still using the banana shampoo and conditioner that I got for christmas, and I must admit, it is lasting well. You don't have to use much to get a nice clean, soft feeling which is great when you're paying a lot for products. I feel like my hair is in reasonable condition right now, especially considering how dry it tends to get in winter with all the central heating, but I'm not blown away by this shampoo and conditioner combo so I think I will be on the hunt for others pretty soon! Watch this space...
December 27th 2009 - Well, I haven't been able to post much over christmas (far too much shopping to do) but now it's all over (boooo), I thought I would update you on my fancy shampoo/conditioner usage since the big day. Last time I posted, I told you all about the banana shampoo and conditioner I was getting for christmas. I have used it twice now, and although the smell is fantastic, it hasn't made much difference to the overall condition of my hair. It does leave it quite soft, but it is no more shiney or manageable. Also, does anyone else notice that after straightening their hair, it kind of loses the smell of the shampoo? I guess it is probably masked by heat protection spray etc but still, it is a bit depressing! I will continue using this shampoo and conditioner for a while anyway because I do like it, and it feels nice and thick and rich. Nothing that smells that nice can be a bad thing!!

December 12th 2009 - With Christmas just around the corner, I thought I might as well add a fancy shampoo and conditioner onto my christmas list - in fact, I might as well add a couple of both! The first I have chosen is the body shop banana shampoo and conditioner (see below for pics). Now, admittedly I chose these products because they smell like bananary heaven, but they weren't cheap and the body shop is known for supplying good quality products so I am expecting good things! Each bottle cost £3.99 for 250ml which is quite pricey because 250ml really isn't that much (especially when you have mega long, thick hair which absorbs conditioner like a sponge!). However, if my hair is left smelling anything like these products, I'll be happy no matter what the condition of it is like!

December 3rd 2009 - Well, I have been using Redken for just over two weeks now and I have to say, I am not overly impressed. I would say that my hair is slightly softer and less brittle feeling, but a slight improvement isn't really good enough when you consider the price of these products. It's very annoying because I have been to hairdressers where they have washed my hair in Redken products and when I leave, my hair is soft, bouncy, shiney - just like a shampoo advert! I can never seem to reproduce this effect at home though, no matter how much money I spend on products. Perhaps it is the hair washing technique rather than the product? Who knows! Anyway, I'm not going to buy Redken again... the hunt for the perfect products continues!
November 15th 2009 - I was having a browse around the internet today when I came across a site selling Redken hair products. Yes that's right, I wasn't looking or anything, I just came across it accidently. I had a look through their different product ranges and read reviews on the various types you could get. I decided that the "all soft" line sounded like it had the most positive results, seemingly transforming people's hair from dry and straw like, to silky soft and smooth. Just what I was after. So I have ordered some and it should arrive in a couple of days. I'm quite apprehensive, afterall, my previous attempts at fixing my hair haven't been all that successful but I am trying to stay positive. At £20 for the shampoo and conditioner, it was pricey but the cheapest of the ones I have tried so far. Below is a picture of the product range. Gold bottles has to mean good things, right?

November 12th 2009 - Well, I am nearly out of Kerastase already which isn't great and to be honest I can't say I have noticed any more differences since the last time I posted. I had my hair cut the other day though and left the salon with gorgeous, shiny, smooth hair. How do they do it?! I noticed they were using "Redken" products... so guess which shampoo and conditioner I am going to try out next?? Watch this space...
November 2nd 2009 - I have been using the Kerastase conditioner for a while now and although it hasn't had a massive, life changing effect on my hair, I have to admit I have noticed a few changes. My hair feels less dry and looks a lot less frizzy than it did. It has also made my natural curls/waves/tangles look more defined and healthier AND when I straighten it, it looks straighter and it takes less time to get a good result. On the negative side, the thing about "a little going a long way" doesn't really seem to be true when you have very long, thick hair. If I use a little, it feels like there isn't any conditioner on my hair and when I rinse it off, it feels like it hasn't been conditioned. So, a few days after buying it, I am left with a little less than three quarters of the bottle left. Considering the cost... it's not really a luxury I can afford on a regular basis, plus, although it has had some positive effects, they haven't been noticeable to anyone but me and considering I have been actively looking for changes, that doesn't say much. So, I am more impressed with this than I was with the Tigi Bed Head but that doesn't say much. NEXT.
October 24th 2009 - Ok, yesterday I went out and bought myself a conditioner made by "Kerastase" called Ciment Anti Usure (a bit of an odd name, admittedly but let's not be put off). I didn't bother with the shampoo to go with it because my last experience with these "luxury" hair products didn't go too well. It cost £14 which is a lot of money but I was assured that a tiny amount would go very far... hard to imagine though as I have very long, thick hair. Anyway, see below for a picture of the very grown up looking conditioner.

The conditioner was a lot thinner in texture than I thought it would be, generally the more intense a product is, the thicker it is. I put it on my hair and left it for a good 10 - 15 minutes before washing it out. Again, I left my hair to dry naturally because I didn't want to dry it out with the hairdryer and initially, I couldn't see much difference. When I came to straighten my hair the next day however, it did seem quite a bit easier to do. It took a lot less time than it normally does and it looked straighter than it normally does. I know this isn't a "straightening" conditioner as such but it seems to have had some kind of positive effect on my hair. I will persevere and see if I start to notice any more changes.
October 10th 2000 - I have washed my hair with Tigi Bed Head a few times since my last post and although it smells like a dream, it hasn't really made much difference to my general hair condition. I feel pretty disappointed considering it cost well over £20 for the shampoo and the conditioner. Am I destined to have straw like hair for the rest of my life? Perhaps not... I have been recommended kerastase conditioner by a friend and as soon as I've got some spare cash, I think I'll give it a try! I know, I never learn.
October 6th 2009 - Ok, so on Tuesday I went out and bought myself some Tigi Bed Head shampoo and conditioner. Despite the fact that my hair is pretty much as dark as dark can get, I was advised by the very camp stylist that I should go for a product called "dumb blonde" shampoo and "dumb blonde" reconstructor (see below for the pretty pink and silver bottles which match this website rather beautifully).

I washed my hair with them for the first time on Wednesday night and made sure I followed the instructions on the packaging very carefully. I didn't blow dry my hair afterwards because that usually dries it out so I let it dry naturally, keeping my fingers crossed that the results would be sleek, smooth, soft and shiny (and I would be transformed into a new woman). I was disappointed. Although my hair smelt absolutely fantastic, and did feel quite soft, it was still dry and it was still frizzy. Perhaps I'm expecting miracles if I want it to work after one wash so I will try it again tonight and let you know if it makes any difference.
October 1st 2009 - Well, today is the day of my first blog entry. I'm a bit worried that this blog might be a little bit boring, I mean do people really want to read about some girls hair? Although to be honest, I would like to read about someone else's hair problems so I could see that I am not the only one in the world with the most disobedient hair ever! I'm going to try out lots of different hair products over the next few months so that I can write about my experience with them. I know I'm always really tempted by adverts for hair products which promise "silky, smooth" results but I haven't actually used any that do as they are supposed to. So this way, I spend my money and you get to save your money! I know, I know, the sacrifices I make for you.
I know this site is mainly about hair straighteners but the products you use on your hair can supposedly help with making it easier to straighten. Like I say, as of yet I haven't really found anything that does that but I know there must be something out there! Anyway, look out for my next post where I will hopefully have tried out some of the "fabulous" Tigi bed head products and I'll let you know how I get on!
